Single floor - Mansion building guide

I have tried making the mansion as easy to assemble as possible. but please read the following step by step guide anyway. Btw : this guide asumes that you have basic knowlege about placing items in a PAZ

First, a little advise before starting.

  • It may be easier to build the Mansion while having the PAZ places on water. this however isnt allways the case.
  • If you cannot see the arrows for scrolling downward in the "structures" list, when placing items, you can just move your mouse over another folder and then back - then the arrows will appear again.
  • If you want everything perfect it might be easierto have a friend helping you with the placement, this is especially the case with the roof, which is the hardest part to place.
  • Change view to low zoom quite often when placing, to have a better overview.

1. Buy the elements you need.

You can find a list of the needed elements in the page explaining the single story mansion and the 2 story mansion. Links to the individual auctions are avalible trough the section "Auction links" on the previous page. You should buy all needed elements before continuing.

2. Place the foundation deck.

Place the foundation of the mansion, called "Mansion (Theme X) Deck" (name may change bue to diffrent themes beeing released).

Note the white line that runs around the edge of the foundation. This line is a guideline that will help you when placing the walls. Basicly you just have to cover the white line with the walls.

3. Placing the first wall.

I will try to explain how to place the walls as easily as possible, and without having to use ages doing it. for this youll need to use the following buttons on your keyboard.

To turn from one side to another as precise as possible you should holde down the Ctrl button and the Left mouse button while moving your mouse from one side to another.
This will help you when alining the Element to the white line.

First take out the wall you want to place ("Mansion (White) Back-L Wall" in this example), use the normal movement controls to get as close to the destination of the element as possible, and then use the Ctrl and Left mousebutton to get the angle (when compared to the white line) more or less perfect.

Now hold down the Shift button while pressing one of the left or right arrowkeys. By quickly tapping the arrows, this will make you sidestep very precise to either left or right.

Use this to sidestep until the side of the wall covers the white line (on the left in the above pictures).
Now you need to move the wall back and forth untill it allso covers the white line infront of you.
Since your avatar walks in "steps" back and forth this isnt easy thou. So insted you should make use of the sidestepping method (Shift + Left or Right arrow).
Do this by turning so you have your side in the dirrection you want to move, now sidestep a bit in the dirrection and turn back so you face the right way again. Now you should have moved the right distance back or forth. You can now use the Ctrl + Left Mouse method and Shift + Left or Right arrow method to to reallign your wall.

When your wall covers the white line both in front and side, you should be able to place. A good practice is to take a look in low zoom thou, to make your everything is perfect.

Now that the wall has been placed you can check if you did it right by running around the wall and checking if the white line is visible. Do not worry if some of it is vissible thou, its not a problem.

4. Placing the remaining walls.

Now that you know the basics of placing a wall you can begin placing the remaining walls, just use the same method as you used when placing the first wall. However note noe thing.
I have fitted some walls with "Joints" which serve to hide the places that 2 walls meet, therefore you should use "low zoom" once in a while to check out if the joint alligns correctly with the other walls.

Note that the joints does not have to allign perfectly, the whole idea with them is that they will make your Mansion look perfect even thou you didnt place every Element perfectly.

5. Placing the frontdoor

Placing the frontdoor uses the same principles as placing walls, however when placing the frontdoor you should use "low zoom" to make sure it is placed correctly. It shouldnt be a problem thou, if you just follow the white lines for the frontdoor as with the walls.

When the Frontdoor has been placed run into the house and make sure the Joints on the frontdoor has been hidden completely. It should look like the following picture.

6. Adding the middle floor.

Now you need to add the middle floor to the mansion. Adding this part can be difficult, so it might help to have a friend helping you out by telling you when the floor is aligned.

First hold the ctrl button + the left mouse button and move your mouse so your avatar looks up. Then move into place so that the floor exceeds the walls a bit like on the following picture.

Now hold down shift and start moving repeatly from side to side.

This will make your avatar "nudge" forward. Do this untill the egde of the floor is propperly aligned to the frontdoor element. If they are aligned as on the picture below, Then place the floor.

7. Placing the stairs.

An easy method of aligning the stairs and thereby placing them correctly is to walk the whole element into the back wall of the mansion. Then use Ctrl + Left Mouse and turn the stairs until they look like they follow the back wall, allso make sure your avatar looks up.

When ready start moving back.
The entire whole in the floor element needs to be covered. so use Shift + Left and Right so adjust.

The following picture shows the correct placement of the stairs.

8. Place the toplevel walls

Basically just follow the same steps as in section 3 and 4. However you will have to place the balcony before placing the toplevel frontdoor.

9. Placing the Balcony

Placing the balcony is an easy task.
Shift to Low Airal Zoom. This can be done from the "Views" button. Then simply keep an eye on the areas pointed out on the picture below and place the balcony.

10. Adding the toplevel frontdoor

Place the toplevel frontdoor while standing on the balcony.
Use the same aproach as described in section 5.

11. Adding the roof

At this point you might want to have a friend help you, since it can be hard to messure when the roof is places perfectly. So if you have a friend who can run around the mansion and check out whether or not the roof is placed right, it'll be much more easy.

To place the roof you will need to make your avatar look up. Do this by using the Ctrl and Left mouse button. Just drag your mouse upwards while pressing Ctrl and the Left mouse button.

Now you'll need to move around untill you have the placement perfect. Use the same method as when placing a wall, only this time you will have no lines to follow.
Also note that if you change to "Low zoom" you will no longer look up when you change back, therefore you should not do this.
The picture below shows the approximate placement of the roof.

12. Enjoy

Now you are ready to move in!
